What are Breast Augmentation Pills and Creams?

There are a huge number of breast enhancement supplements and creams available online that claim to be a non-surgical and more affordable alternative to surgical Breast Augmentation procedures. With Breast Augmentation being the most popular surgical procedure in the UK, it is understandable that products claiming to offer the same results, without the downtime or cost, will be appealing to many.

These breast enlargement creams and pills often contain plant-derived ingredients known as Phytoestrogens – compounds found in plants that have chemical similarities to the hormone Oestrogen. Examples of these ingredients include:

  • Wild Yam
  • Saw Palmetto
  • Dandelion Root
  • Blessed Thistle

Unfortunately, there is no scientific evidence to show that Phytoestrogens have any effect on human breast growth. Additionally, the regulation of the manufacture and sale of these products is limited, resulting in widespread availability despite limited evidence of their effectiveness.

Hormones and Breast Growth

The hormone Oestrogen plays a crucial role in breast development and size, in particular during puberty and pregnancy. The production of Oestrogen stimulates the growth of glandular and fatty tissue in the breasts, resulting in them becoming larger.

Oestrogen fluctuations during the menstrual cycle, pregnancy and menopause can also affect breast size and texture. Medication such as hormonal contraception or hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may also impact levels of Oestrogen in the body, causing changes to breast size.

It is important to note that there is a significant difference between Oestrogen and Phytoestrogens (as found in many breast augmentation creams and pills). Although Phytoestrogens are able to bind to Oestrogen receptors within the body and produce some health benefits similar to Oestrogen, they are not as potent and cannot replicate the exact effects of natural or lab-derived Oestrogen, including the impacts on breast development and size.

Phytoestrogens are not a substitute for hormonal contraception or hormone replacement therapy, and it is important to remember that their effects may vary depending on individual factors such as age and overall health.

Why Do People Want Bigger Breasts?

Breast size is a common concern, and many patients wish to increase the size of their breasts. Having small breasts can lead to a loss of confidence and self-consciousness. This often stems from challenges such as finding well-fitting, flattering clothing and gym wear. Some women also feel that having a flatter chest makes them appear less feminine, leading to them considering Breast Augmentation. The shape and size of your breasts are individual to you, and not everyone who has small breasts will be dissatisfied with the appearance of their breasts.

Breast Augmentation, also known as Breast Enlargement, is the most popular surgical procedure performed in the UK. Between 2023 and 2024, BAAPS recorded a 6% increase in the number of Breast Augmentation procedures that were carried out.

The popularity of Breast Augmentation procedures has unfortunately led to unscrupulous companies marketing products such as breast growth supplements and breast augmentation cream, taking advantage of people’s insecurities.

Do Breast Enlargement Supplements and Breast Enhancement Creams Work?

The bottom line is that it is very unlikely that any breast enlargement cream or pill for breast growth will work. No scientific studies have shown that any of these breast-enhancing supplements are effective.

It is also essential to consider whether breast development cream or supplements for breast growth are safe. Products of this nature are classified as cosmetics rather than medical products, meaning they are subject to less stringent regulation. Although they cannot make false or misleading claims, they can still sell these products without any evidence that they are effective.

Always be cautious of products that promise immediate or guaranteed results, or marketing that relies on case studies and testimonials from supposed customers, without any independent reviews.

Although many of these companies will comply with the laws and regulations required (even if their products aren’t effective), there may also be cases where companies take advantage of people’s insecurities for profit. These products may claim to contain ingredients such as Phytoestrogens, but in fact, they are either just repackaged moisturisers or vitamins or even contain ingredients that may be harmful.

Cadogan Clinic’s expert breast surgeons do not recommend purchasing or using any breast enlargement cream or breast enhancement supplements. There is a range of safe and effective methods for increasing the size of your breasts; you can discuss these options in a one-to-one consultation at our award-winning clinic, based in Chelsea, London.

How to Get Bigger Breasts Safely and Effectively

The only way to safely and effectively increase the size of your breasts is with surgery. Although non-surgical options are available from some providers, it is not fully understood whether treatments such as fillers for breasts are a safe, long-term option.

At Cadogan Clinic we offer two safe and effective Breast Enlargement options.

Breast Augmentation with Implants

Breast Augmentation with implants involves inserting breast implants into the breasts to increase their size and improve their tone. Breast implants are available in a seemingly inexhaustible range of sizes, meaning they are a practical option for the vast majority of patients considering Breast Augmentation.

At Cadogan Clinic, our surgeons use silicone breast implants from first-rate brands. The exact breast implants your surgeon recommends will be based on your concerns and desired outcomes.

Breast implants can also be easily removed and replaced if your aesthetic preferences change in the years following your procedure. When carried out by a qualified plastic surgeon, Breast Augmentation with implants is a safe and successful procedure with superior, long-term results.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Also known as Natural Breast Enlargement, Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation is a popular alternative to Breast Augmentation with implants. Excess fat is extracted from areas of the body such as the abdomen, waist, thighs and buttocks using Liposuction. The fat is then processed to remove any impurities and injected into the breasts. This increases the volume of the breasts and improves skin tone and texture.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation typically produces a more subtle result than breast implants and is suited to patients who wish to achieve up to a one-and-a-half cup size increase. It is also important to consider that Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation may need to be carried out over more than one procedure; up to 50% of the fat can be reabsorbed, meaning a top-up may be required to achieve the desired result. Many patients also like Fat Transfer to Breast as they achieve body contouring as a secondary benefit

Although both Breast Augmentation with implants and fat transfer are safe procedures, some patients are also drawn towards fat transfer as it removes some risks and problems that can be associated with breast implants. Cadogan Clinic’s founder, Mr Bryan Mayou introduced Liposuction to the UK in 1983, and has been at the forefront of pioneering fat extraction and transfer procedures ever since.

Words From Our Founder

Mr. Bryan Mayou

Although the extensive promises of many breast enlargement supplements and breast augmentation cream can seem appealing, there is no evidence that any of these products are effective. In the worst cases, they may even be harmful scams. The best way to increase the size of the breasts is to seek surgical treatment from a qualified and accredited consultant plastic surgeon with extensive experience in performing Breast Augmentation procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

In the UK, breast enhancement creams are categorised as cosmetic products with less strict regulation than medical products and procedures. Although they must adhere to rules such as not making false or misleading claims, they can still be sold with no evidence that they are effective. This also means that unethical companies may sell these products with limited information, or even unsafe ingredients, making it challenging to be certain that these products are safe to use.

There is no evidence that any breast enhancement cream is an effective way to increase the size of your breasts. They are usually based on Phytoestrogens, plant-based compounds similar to Oestrogen (the hormone which impacts breast development and growth). Although Phytoestrogens can support health and wellbeing in some ways, no scientific studies have found a connection between Phytoestrogens and breast growth.

Similar to breast development cream, there is no evidence that breast enlargement pills or breast enlargement supplements are an effective way of increasing the size of your breasts. Ingesting breast enhancing supplements that contain Phytoestrogens may interact with medications you are taking, and it is essential to speak with your doctor before taking any breast supplement pills.

Breast enlargement supplements containing Phytoestrogens are not an effective way to increase the size of your breasts. Medication such as hormonal contraception or hormone replacement therapy containing lab-derived Oestrogen may impact the size of your breasts; however, your doctor will discuss a variety of reasons for taking these medications with you, and they should not be taken purely to increase breast size.
