Cadogan Clinic were delighted to be invited to speak to the pupils, and parents and carers of Queen’s Gate School in South Kensington about dermatology on Friday 21 June 2024. Dr Aveen Connolly, one of Cadogan Clinic’s expert consultant dermatologists made a presentation to over 100 pupils covering skincare, dermatology and how the impact of social media and mental health affects overall skin health.

Dr Connolly’s presentation focused on empowering the pupils to make informed decisions about looking after their skin. This is currently a highly discussed topic due to concern from many dermatologists about the number of young people they are seeing who have an overcomplicated skincare routine, including anti-ageing active ingredients which may be harming their skin.

During the session, Dr Connolly discussed how to put together a basic skincare routine and treatments for Acne. She also covered the importance of a healthy diet in looking after the skin and how stress and mental health conditions can affect the skin. This comprehensive approach educated the pupils about how overall well-being is deeply connected to skin health.

As well as her session with the pupils, Dr Connolly also ran a separate online presentation for the pupils’ parents and carers providing knowledge on suitable skincare for teenagers. She also covered how overall health can impact the skin in this session to help parents understand how they can fully support their child’s skin health.
We received positive feedback from parents and pupils on both presentations and hope to offer these sessions again.
