Liposuction Results

Liposuction is one of the specialities of Cadogan Clinic, our founder Mr Bryan Mayou having introduced the treatment to the UK. Since then, our dedicated consultant surgeons have worked to pioneer this procedure, driving safety and worldwide surgical guidelines in Liposuction and Fat Transfer procedures.

Your entire surgical journey from your initial consultation with your surgeon to aftercare, provided by our specialist cosmetic surgery nurses will all take place at our state of the art hospital in beautiful Chelsea, London, providing you with a central hub for your procedure.

The importance of before and afters in Liposuction

An important part of any patient’s research process when considering Liposuction surgery is to compare the surgical results of different surgeons. Many surgeons post before and after photos online and on social media, allowing you to find out what they offer and how their results differ, depending on their specialities and the techniques they use. After your initial research, the next stage is to organise a consultation with the surgeon you feel will be most suitable to address your concerns and provide your desired results.

In your face to face consultation, your surgeon will show you more Liposuction before and after photos, but from patients who have similar concerns and desired results to you. They may also be able to show you photos that haven’t been published online. This will show you a more specific comparison to get an idea of the results that are possible for you from Liposuction surgery. Many surgeons also take a few photos, at different stages of the recovery process, this will demonstrate how you can expect your recovery to look, as well as showing you the development and healing of any scarring and how any incisions will be skillfully hidden by your surgeon.

Before and after photos are a crucial part of the Liposuction journey, as they allow you to understand what is possible to treat and address your concerns and how your surgeon will achieve your desired results. They will also show you the quality and consistency of your surgeon’s results, reassuring you that they are the right surgeon for you. If you are struggling to decide on the surgeon you want to meet for a consultation, our dedicated surgical patient advisors will be able to recommend the surgeon they think will be best for you.

Importance of aftercare in Liposuction results

Although having a skilled, specialist surgeon is highly important in making sure you achieve your desired results, you will also be asked to follow specific aftercare instructions by your surgeon and nursing team to prevent complications and enjoy the smoothest recovery process possible. After your Liposuction procedure, your surgeon will ask you to wear a compression garment, day and night, for up to 8 weeks following your surgery. This will enclose the area that has been treated with Liposuction, accelerating your healing time, by reducing swelling and preventing water retention. This will result in smoother bodily contours and an overall better quality result. Your garment will be provided by Cadogan Clinic, and your surgical team will be able to explain how to use the garment effectively for the best results.

Most Liposuction treatments do not involve stitches that need to be removed, however your surgeon may use dissolvable stitches, depending on the area that has been treated. You will need to come in a week after your procedure to meet with our specialist nursing team so they can examine your incisions and change your dressings. It is important to change your dressings regularly and also to keep your surgical area clean and dry to prevent infection, which can seriously impact your healing and scarring. Your surgeon will also ask you to avoid strenuous physical activity for at least 6 weeks following your procedure, to prevent any strain being placed on the surgical sites. Excess activity can increase your risk of seroma or hematoma, where fluid or blood collects under the skin around the surgical site, and will require further intervention from your surgeon.

Generally, recovery from Liposuction is very simple and straightforward, as long as the aftercare instructions are followed. Although recovery looks different for everyone, you will be given a clear timeline for recovery and the instructions you will need to follow to get the best results possible.
